Deducing from a combination of sources, there seems to be a title in Poland which translates as a 'sub-judge', possibly in both Italian and English it is a gloss on a Polish term. Might explain why there are so few uses of the term in Italian.

There is also a couple of apparent references to this Andrzej Wolski, mentioned as having a Foundation that sponsored the building of a church in the same period mentioned (http://www.polen.travel/de-at/stadte/chelm/seite-2/) sadly doesn't tell us what he was!
