So far I have polizze di carico as bills of lading...so what is the stato dei fatti? some kind of report, receipt, quality certification? also occurs in the following two places:

then it should be "Statement of Facts".
At the end of the stay in port, the port agent draws up a Statement of Facts, setting out a log of events during the ship's stay in port. The Statement of Facts enables a time sheet to be drawn up and signed by the master and the shipper or receiver of the cargo. The time sheet enables laytime and therefore demurrage or despatch to be calculated.

"Stato dei fatti" means "current situation". I am not sure this is the best solutions - perhaps some colleague will be able to say it better.

Asker: Thank you - I suspect this is some kind of formal report, though, given the capitalisation and the context. A situation report? status report?
