Italian term or phrase: l'abitudine alla bagarre

Il week end del 20 settembre correrò ad Imola in auto nel trofeo Lotus, come gara di contorno al WTCC, giusto per non perdere l'abitudine alla bagarre.

This is from the same text ...I've used scramble things up a bit. As one of the definitions of bagarre is scrimmage but I'm not sure of this.
