It's just because it mentions F2 in the same sentence that I don't think there could be any confusion with rally driving....! However, track racing is also acceptable, obviously

No si sta parlando di come traddure "gare su pista" di cui la parola piste forma una parte.
IMHO all the terms posted are possible, but yours is ambiguous because it includes rally driving which I don't believe is really gare su piste and is very certainly not formula 2 which is what we are talking about here.
Mine was just a neutral comment.

Qui non si sta dicendo che road traduce pista: gare su pista significa gare su un circuito IN CONTRASTO CON gare fuori pista. Questi due concetti in inglese si rendono con ON ROAD and OFF ROAD, e per estensione ROAD RACING e OFFROAD RACING...spero di essere stata chiara

Ma avete visto il referency entry di Gian? perché vi è tanto difficile accettare che gare su pista = road racing? Ho messo fior di referenze, e ho lavorato quasi 20 anni nel settore...Gian ha trovato il reference perfetto..ma ancora non vi basta...mah. I give up
