chequer plate Explanation: Hi Peter, This stuff is "chequer plate" or "chequerplate", though it could also be "rice grain treadplate" if you want to be finicky... (I think it's much of a muchness for your purpose, it's all about anti-slip relief patterns used for trafficable surfaces).
