The Italian term is derived from "greca", an architectural term meaning a fret, key pattern, or meander-style decorative element of repeated horizontal and vertical straight lines. Since there are endless variations on this configuration, the generic "profiled" is probably your safest bet. chequer plate Explanation: Hi Peter, This stuff is "chequer plate" or "chequerplate", though it could also be "rice grain treadplate" if you want to be finicky... (I think it's much of a muchness for your purpose, it's all about anti-slip relief patterns used for trafficable surfaces).
