composizione bloccata reversibile

English translation: reversible or "push-pull" (fixed consist ) trainset

Italian term or phrase: composizione bloccata reversibile
Nel dicembre 1996 tornano in servizio la Ale 02 e la rimorchiata pilota Le 54 ricostruite dalla FERVET di Castelfranco Veneto. I due mezzi formano una composizione bloccata reversibile.

Based on the response to one of my previous questions,
"reversible fixed trainset"?
Thanks!

English translation:reversible or "push-pull" (fixed consist ) trainset
Explanation:
by the way the "remorchiata pilota" is a "driving trailer" to save you asking. I get double points for that ! (feeble joke).
This type of trainset can be hauled by the locomotive or pushed by it when the train is worked in the reverse direction. That way it doesn't have to be turned round in a dead-end station before it can go on its return jounrey.

You know - a lot of this stuff is probably on Eurodicautom since the whole of the so-called railway dictionary was put on that site..... But I don\'t mind answering. I find this rather fun and breaks the monotony of trying to write my own articles

Thanks! I have been using Eurodicautom but, as Azalea noted, the translation for this particular term is awkward. Also, you can only get on late in the evening or, with a stroke of luck, in the morning.
Again, thanks for all your help!
