hooked up Explanation: it is perhaps a closer translation of "agganciato" even if you would not use it for a GPS (unless you mean to hook it up to a laptop or other devices). Agganciato does not seem right in Italian as well; a GPS is by definition linked to not one satellite but several ones, as far as I can tell from this excellent explanation of the system http://dmsweb.badm.sc.edu/701gstud/rhecker/Personal Web Page... saluti Paola L M |

My suggestions are: Explanation: 1. If it is about GPS RECEIVERS than they are being TUNED (radiofrequencies) to the 24-satellite GPS constellation. 2. If it is about 24-satellite GPS constellation than a particular satellite´s orbit is being corrected. GPS receivers are used amnog other things for weather forecasts and, why not, also for electrosomg measuring. The principle is more or less the same (based on radiowave transmission delay). Given your particular context I think we´re talking about a GPS receiver, so I would use the first answer. I am a physicist. web resources |

locked on Explanation: Hi again Grace I think "locked on" is the phrase you need, as in the following website, for example, where you will find "locked onto a satellite". Cheers Derek Reference: http://www.garmin.com/aboutGPS/ |
