Thanks Paola, I actually meant a tag rather than a label: you're right a label's usually stitched/glued to the article, whilst a tag hangs from it.

Thanks to Luskie to for the confirmation - I saw the term used for the strips of paper in Baci chocolates, so that answer was right too.
