Italian term or phrase: laminatura del fondo
Article about 16th-century brocade, lampas, gold filé cloth etc. I understand the text deals with metal wire covering the textile, but what is the term, please?
Toton
English translation:background with metallic threads
Explanation:
or metallic background

Need the original sentence to understand this better. Also in the 16th century I don't think lamination processes (plastc coating) were used as we understand them today. So lamination could mean something else altogether.
