Italian term or phrase: codice culturale
Anybody got any nice ideas for how to translate "codice culturale" here? They are talking about a school where people learn to become professional tailors (Scuola Superiore di Sartoria):

"Il corso prevede una parte teorica quadriennale e un tirocinio, che trasformano in un preciso **codice culturale** le 220 fasi di lavorazione necessarie per realizzare un capo X."

Thanks!

codify
Explanation:
I would translate the whole thing, "che trasformano in un preciso codice culturale" simply as "codify".

I suppose you could say "precisely codify" if you wanted to stay closer to the Italian.

Explanation:
I don't think you can translate "culturale" literally in this context. It refers to the know-how needed to work as a tailor.

(Tailor's) etiquette

Explanation:
I interpret this as meaning:
"Etiquette
noun
1. c....
2. a prescribed or accepted code of usage in matters of ceremony, as at a court or in official or other formal observances.
3. the code of ethical behavior regarding professional practice or action among the members of a profession in their dealings with each other: medical etiquette."

Example sentence(s):
  • "...what's the proper etiquette in this situation? should I contact him and just ask him what I should do? or should I just show up with the tags still on the suit and explain to him that it's brand new?"
