Tourism & Travel / campsite deposit
Italian term or phrase: importo d'asta
è richiesto il versamento *dell’importo d’asta* pari a Euro XXX,00, che non verrà rimborsato alla partenza

It's a campsite booking confirmation letter and this is a non-refundable amount to be paid in addition to the deposit. I can find similar but not exact term. Tourism tax?

Thank you as ever

Sounds like it could be this even though I've never seen the term used in this context.

A down payment is not necessarily a deposit. The deposit is usually refundable at eth end of eth stay or afterwards, but a down payment is simply partial advance payment of the fee or rent.

What about "registration fee" - usually a once-off non-refundable payment. You might want to add "once-off" before it or just say once-off fee - google "once off registration fee" and you will see this is quite common

Asker: Thanks but this is in addition to the deposit.

Asker: Apologies for lack of full information but otherwise I'd have had to put most of the letter; it is made clear that this payment is not a partial advance but is a non-refundable payment which will not be taken into consideration when paying the balance,

Explanation:
'asta' as in tent pole maybe :)?
some campsites charge a pitch/pitching fee for the privilege of putting your tent up on their hallowed turf, you can find quite a few on the net

Asker: Of course - that would make sense. This translation of asta didn't occur to me, although the pitch is a static caravan.
