Distretti turistici = i sistemi turistici locali previsti dalla legge quadro. Questi ultimi possono essere promossi da enti pubblici, enti territoriali e soggetti privati che intendono concorrere allo sviluppo turistico del proprio territorio attraverso la predisposizione di specifici progetti.

ad esempio in Sicilia esiste il distretto turistico "i Borghi Marinari" costituito da 10 comuni con capofila Cefalu.
