In der Bucchhaltung wird centro meistens mit Stelle übersetzt, wie du selber schon vorschlägst:
centro di costo (CdC) = Kostenstelle (KSt.)
cento di spesa (CdS) = Ausgabestelle (ASt.)
centro di documentazione (CdD) = Dokumentationsstelle (DSt.)
Demnach würde ich centro di lavoro mit Bearbeitungsstelle übersetzen. "Bearbeitungszentrum" wird, wie wikipedia auch sagt, hauptsächlich für Werkzeugmaschinen verwendet und das dürfte hier nicht der Fall sein (mehr Kontext wäre nützlich!).
