Очень трудный случай, поскольку возможность события в будущем и прошлом можно передать только глаголом в прошедшем времени. Может быть, слово "возможно" лучше передаст предполагаемую возможность действия в будущем, а глагол в прошедшем времени "могло" без частицы "бы" лучше передаст возможность того, что уже могло произойти. Наверное, я уже опоздала со своим переводом, но мне стало так интересно попробовать это перевести!
