In elettronica un dissipatore è un dispositivo che consente l'abbassamento di temperatura di componenti che sprigionano calore come i Transistor o i processori, evitando che il surriscaldamento degli stessi ne provochi il malfunzionamento, l'arresto o la rottura.
Da cui poteri dire che un'apertura di dissipazione è l'apertura da dove viene eliminata la temperatura (calore) in eccesso.
