Hola Mariana, yo colocaría así:

La disciplina es un elemento indispensable para el aprendizaje y el perfeccionamiento del Kung Fu, sin embargo no es el objetivo "principal" "único", frecuentemente "la disciplina" se profesa como forma de respeto...

en comillas señalo -principal o único- como opciones, particularmente me gusta principal, y luego señalo en comillas -la disciplina- porque puede ser una opción retomar o no el sujeto. espero que te sea útil, es sólo una idea.
