El director médico como su nombre lo dice es el que representa al cuerpo médico; por lo general es un médico especialista muy respetado que coordina tareas administrativas y asistenciales con el fin de asegurar calidad y eficiencia en los servicios de salud.
El médico jefe prodria ser el jefe de una unidad o un servicio. El jefe de la unidad de cuidado intensivo. Pero esta palabra se usa mas para una enfermera titulada, se le dice enfermera jefe.
