Gracias por tu ayuda Remo. Supernumerario también existe, como indican las referencias que me das, a nivel de profesorado, pero en este caso se refiere a los exámenes, y, por lo que me han indicado en el grupo italiano-inglés, creo que se refiere a un examen extra. Copio aquí la respuesta que obtuve, pero te agradezco mucho tu colaboración.

hi Carmen, what Gian said is fine, a "sovrannumerario" is generally a teacher/professor. Since however you are talking about exams I guess it is an extra exam you add to you curriculum.
