Explanation:
De la familia de las ramnáceas.

Arbusto caducifolio de hasta 6 m de altura, con tallos que traen ramitas opuestas, terminadas en una espina. Hojas opuestas y ovales, finamente dentadas, con 2-4 pares de nervios laterales muy marcados. Flores pequeñas y verdosas, abundantes en grupos entre las hojas. Fruto en baya, negra y redonda del tamaño de un guisante. Son venenosas. Ampliamente distribuido por toda Europa, pero no en la región mediterránea, en bosque setos y espesuras, sobre todo en lugares soleados y pedregosos. Con los frutos se prepara un jarabe purgante para los animales domésticos
