Japanese to Chinese translations [PRO]
Art/Literary - Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting
Japanese term or phrase: Sen-Kaki
The creation of the intricate pattern of interlacing lines demands both technical and artistic prowess. It is entrusted to a master craftsman who has been practising this art for more than 30 years. To succeed in this unique task, which permits no interruption or hesitation, the craftsman is guided by a prior sketch of the design on the pen (Oki-me technique).
The craftsman uses a long, traditional, very fine brush made of wild rat hair. Unaware of the passage of time, the craftsman begins the meticulous task of painting freehand strokes of perfect regularity and constant thickness.
Only a total mastery of lacquer, the ability to trace and extremely slow brush strokes (just 2 to 3 lines per day) make the creation possible.
