Japanese to English translations [PRO]
Architecture
Japanese term or phrase: 起りをもつ
I am trying to figure out what 起りをもつ means as it is used to explain the characteristics of the hipped roof (yosemune yane) of a historical Japanese structure. It appears as follows:

「起りをもつ瓦葺の寄棟屋根を戴き、。。。」

If more context is needed, just let me know. All suggestions are welcome.

Thank you.

convex pitched
Explanation:
Perhaps something like:

…<the building> has a convex pitched hip tiled roof (“Yosemuneyane”).

There is a note in ja.wiki on屋根 which talks about there being 2 types of trad J roofs concave「そり」 and covex 「むくり」 **(起り)」** roofs and has a nice diagram.
When talking about roof angles/slopes I believe `pitch` is a good word choice (see Concise Oxford:>> Pitch *10 [often as adj.] pitched (chiefly with reference to a roof) slope….etc
Hope this helps. :)

Raised roof

Explanation:
By the kanji I assume it means raised roof (as opposed to flat roof). I am only guessing though
