Japanese to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Architecture / Wall | | Japanese term or phrase: ふかし壁 | This term appears in a construction schedule under 建築工事→軽鉄、ボード工事. The construction is a renovation of an existing building rather than a new construction. I found the following link and it seems that this is a way of making an interior wall on an existing wall without demolishing the existing wall. It seems to me that this is similar, or the same in some cases, to putting up a dry wall.

What is a common English term for this type of wall, and type of work to put up such a wall? I am looking for a commonly used (at least among professionals in the field) term rather than a creative translation.

Build a Wall to Cover Laundry Room Pipes
I had a question about how to cover the pipes and electrical receptacles located behind the washer and dryer in a laundry room.
Usually, there is a spaghetti-like conglomeration of supply and drain pipes, wires, conduit, and receptacles in laundry rooms that builders do not cover up. But it is possible to build a second, or false, wall in front of this mess, effectively shielding it from view. This is not a real wall in the sense of being structural
