brake fade Explanation: I think this is actually refering to fade. Brake fade refers to a reduction in braking power. There are several causes - one of which is the boiling of brake fluid under high temperature - the air bubbles cause sponginess and a reduction in braking power (because pressure on the brake fluid compacts the bubbles instead of pressing the brake element onto the drum or disk.
