NOｘ（例えばNO2）を含む排気ガスの浄化に使われる一般的な触媒です。そのような触媒を多孔質のフィルターの孔の内壁上に含浸などで被覆して、そのフィルターをエンジンの排気ガスの浄化装置の一部として使用します。排気ガスをこのフィルターを介して排出させることで、NOｘを還元して無害なNOなどにして大気中に排出します。
