Japanese term or phrase: Difference between 光沢感、ツヤ
I have a cosmetics text that seems to differentiate between 光沢感 and ツヤ. I.e., one ingredient gives the powder particles a 光沢感 and another gives them a ツヤ. I normally like to use "luster" for both terms, but obviously that won't work here. Any suggestions????

brilliance and luster
Explanation:
Alternatively, I'd translate 光沢感 as 'brilliance' and ツヤ as 'luster'. HTH.

Here are some additional hints and suggestions, defined in terms of how I perceive the different nuances (in English) between 'brilliance' and 'luster'. 'Brilliance' implies 'shimmering', 'glittering', 'sparkling', 'twinkling' and so forth i.e. "shimmery or glittery particles" whereas 'luster' implies 'sheen', 'smoothness', 'luminosity', 'radiance' and so forth i.e. "a smooth, radiant texture". HTH.

agree  michiko tsumura: I even had to look up in a dictionary to see the difference between 光沢 and つや (I still think they are the same thing...). Great explanations!
