Japanese to English translations [PRO] Marketing - Cosmetics, Beauty / Hair | | Japanese term or phrase: 広がり | | What is 広がり in hair? My first guess was poof/poofiness (unwanted fullness), or maybe frizz, but now I'm wondering if it's a hairstyle coming apart (lit. "spreading out"). One use of a product called "matomari keep spray" is preventing/fixing 広がり. Someone help! |

| | bulkiness | Explanation: When Japanese women talk about 広がり in their hair, it often refers to unwanted volume or bulkiness, which is contrast to sleek and slender look typical of straight hair. I'm not confident with my wording though.... |

| Grading comment Thanks for your helpful explanation. "Unruly" is the term I was using for the documents' overall theme of くせ毛, so I eventually settled on "poofiness" for this one. Thanks! 4 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |

41 mins confidence: peer agreement (net): +1 fly-away hair
Explanation: This is a bit of a guess, but isn't that what some brand of hairspray advertised itself as preventing?
That's kind of the image that 'hirogari' suggests to me....

Explanation: something along this line....
This happens to my hair when I go to Florida.... 髪が広がります。
My hair is thick and very straight. Perm doesn't last at all. So, adding humidity, it doesn't to into a frizz, but it is hard to tame it. :(
