Japanese term or phrase: くわれ軸力

ビームの断面の剛性から（くわれ軸力大）もっと強いボルトが必要になった。
(The bolt is used to fasten the beam to something else)

Sorry, I can't post much context, but in general it has been talking about the axial force (軸力) that is acting on a bolt.

There are no kanji, so I am not sure what くわれ is. I tried to figure out what this means, to no avail.

Any ideas?

I think, in this context, “くわれ軸力” is the axial force exerted on the currently used bolt, which results from or is related to and/or impaired by the beam’s cross-sectional stiffness. On second thought, however, I think it is the increase in such force resulting from the stiffness because “くわれ軸力大” is described there.
The overall translation may be as follows:
A more robust bolt was required owing to the beam’s cross-sectional stiffness (due to the increased axial force acting on the existing bolt, which results from such stiffness).
