Tech/Engineering - Engineering (general) | | Japanese term or phrase: 日計便別（集計別） | Hi. I am working on a project concerning a mail sorting machine (I have already posted another question on this - thanks again to those who answered).
This term is used in relation to the printing of records of the quantity of mail pieces that are supplied and sorted by the sorting machine, of the time of supply etc.
Assuming that 日計 is "daily total", how would you translate 便別 and 集計別 here?
I realize this might not be the most appropriate category to ask this question, but I was unsure where to post. |

--- I am surmising that this is about daily totals of mail for several machines....日計便別 is the "daily total" of one machine, while the 集計別 can be either the aggregate total several installed machines that are counting the mail that day, or it could be the aggregate total for the week/month/year, etc. So, I am assuming that this is indicating "two separate totals" (although I do not know what totals they may be).
日計 = daily total
便: = mail or letter
別: -betsu is defined as "classified by" or "by"
集計: aggregate, tally, totalization

I think in the dictionary example aggregate is used rather than total to make sure that the reader does not think that each of the companies has a turnover of $0.2 million.
My company has a total turnover of less than $0.2 million.
In that sentence the word total is somewhat redundant, but I might use it just the same to make sure you didn't think I was talking about one particular aspect of the business
