Japanese term or phrase: とんだ三枚目
In a manga, in the sentence:
とんだ三枚目を演じただぜ!

I gather that 三枚目 is a comic role, but not sure how とんだ effects it.

terrible joker
Explanation:
"What a terrible joker he played!" or "What a horrible comedian he acted out!"
These seem to fit, but the correct expression should be based on the picture and the flow of the story.

As Mika Jarmusz さん pointed out, this expression can be a first person speech or can be about a third person. Of course the context makes clear who acted like a joker, whether intentionally or not, etc.

--- He played a pretty darned good comedian.
--- He played a surprisingly good comedian.

--- とんだ has a lot of meanings so it depends on the context of your manga.

--- Below is a website with definitions of とんだ. I'm taking definition number 3:
(3)(逆説的に)すばらしい。とてもよい。

「―うそを言いやがって」「―お笑いぐさだ」
(3)(逆説的に)すばらしい。とてもよい。
