Japanese to English translations [PRO]
Tech/Engineering - Mechanics / Mech Engineering / torque transmission device
Japanese term or phrase: 係合部
環状部の外周部軸方向トランスミッション側には、複数の係合部が形成されている。

I'm not clear on the exact orientation over.

On the outer circumference of the ring-shaped section, axially on the transmission side, a plurality of ?abutment sections? are formed.

English translation:engaging/interlocking parts
Explanation:
To me it would make more sense to translate this as "engaging or interlocking parts".

In the example sentence below(found here: http://techterm.astamuse.com/ja/係合/?from=techterm_termterm), "系合要素" (interlocking elements) would be equivalent to "係合部" in your example.

Reference: 係合:engaging of clutch

Reference information:
In the context of transmission mechanisms, 係合 might mean engaging (of the clutch) - look for example for 係合トルク here: http://www.oguraclutch.co.jp/products/sentei/yougo/yougo_4.h...

Another example of usage: http://www.patentjp.com/10/I/I100002/DA10547.html

Now then, depending on the mechanism your device uses to engage, 係合部 might signify for example friction plates. It would be helpful to look at a drawing of the part or a specification sheet.

agree  Mami Yamaguchi: I agree with you. Also 'catch(ing)' might be a candidate word as an alternative to 'engaging',I think.
