Japanese to English translations [Non-PRO] Art/Literary - Poetry & Literature / Song Lyric | | Japanese term or phrase: 酔うほどにさまよい | Greetings,
Please could you help with the translation of this?
The line in full: 旅の情けか 酔うほどにさまよい.
For one thing, I'm not sure if the subject should be ‘we’ or ‘I’.
It's from 知床旅情.

| | more drinks we had, more lost we became | Explanation: 「旅の情けか」
「旅の情け」は通常は旅行中に人の親切がいつも以上に強く感じられることですが、ここでは「趣」のことのような気がします。英語下手ですがこんな感じでしょうか?
Was it the magic of being in unknown land
「酔うほどにさまよい」
直訳すれば more drinks we had, more lost we became?
