agree  Nobuo Kameyama: これは柔道に関する実験ですので、試合の相手(対手・敵手)である"opponent"よりも稽古相手である"partner"が相応しいと思います。さらに、相手方は「取である験者」(技をかける立場の相手)なので、Caseyさんの"active partner"が良いと思います。むろん、読者が柔道に多少の心得があるのであれば、Caseyさんの仰せのとおり”tori”でも通じると思います。ただし、多少柔道をかじった程度の読者であれば、”tori”が通じない可能性が高いので避けた方が無難です。
