Japanese to English translations [PRO]
Sports / Fitness / Recreation | | Japanese term or phrase: フォワードが繰り出す"splendid" シュート | I am not a soccer person. What would be the best way to express this in "soccer fan" terms?...Or, colloquial soccer terminology?
Is it about a forward throwing a shoot? 繰り出す literally means send/dispatch but I'm not comfy until I hear from a soccer fan. Can you please give me a brief description of what is being done? I just need to be very sure. :-)

How about "to create"? I think it means the forwards are making play and creating scoring chances (or goals).

I would imagine this as a single player letting fly with a fantastic shot at goal - which may or may not have gone in.
To my ears, splendid seems slightly at odds with the tone you'd expect in soccer commentary - magnificent, incredible, breathtaking, are better.
Maybe I'm thinking in football commentator mode, but somehow the passive 'created by' dispatched by' are not right. Normally if 'shot' is a modified noun, I would expect (I've obviously watched far too much football!) either no verb - ie 'a shot from the forward' or something more overblown such as 'a breathtaking shot hewn from the right foot of the forward'.
If you can change the perspective, you could use something like: The forward let fly a splendid shot, /
more casually, 'the forward delivered a belter of a shot'
etc...

Hmm. I don't quite understand your logic. It was clear to me and Michiko that you wanted an explanation of the whole scenario rather than just a translation of 'shoot'. You can't really award points based on a hidden answer. Not that I begrudge the points, just the time wasted!
