English translation:sympathizing greatly with the idea of making baseball (more) like baseball
Explanation:
ベースボールたらしめている means 'making (it) baseball-like' but I'm not sure I have got the meaning of the whole phrase. It sounds like the author is talking about keeping baseball pure (i.e. like baseball, not like any other sport).
It may also be 'the idea that they are making...' rather than 'the idea of making...'
I hope that helps a bit!
