what does this mean when a sentence starts with ですが,

In response to the other pros:
Satnii san also points out that ¥"yet¥" is another translation.

From Gytabit san¥'s comment, I thought I should add to this. ¥"ですが¥" is a rather ¥"colloquial¥" and used in formal tone. If you are talking to your friend in a daily conversation, you can use ¥"でも¥" or ¥"だけど¥", etc. Will this make sense?
