Explanation: “which is authenticated from the marriage register of the parish of St. Eugenia by signature and by the customary seal of office.” reading “constare ... testatur” as “is authenticated”, though it could be different depending on what comes before, because “constare” is a bit tricky. And if it is this, then maybe better “witnessed” or “confirmed” instead of “authenticated”, depending on the style you need. If you are lucky, maybe "alcaeus" will come along and give you an authoritative interpretation. :-) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2003-01-09 09:53:20 (GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I made it \"the parish of\" because that´s what I am used to, but my background is the Anglican Church. I don´t know the customs for the Catholic Church.
