Talking about lawmaking in the early middle ages for the protection of hunting dogs.

Non risulta impresa difficile rintracciare nelle codificazioni di stirpe il cane, animale rappresentativo di quella cultura germanica tanto dedita alla caccia e alla pastorizia, compagno della vita quotidiana del villico, del pastore quanto di un "mos regis pueris".

maybe "animale rappresentativo di quella cultura germanica ... quanto di un mos regis pueris", and so it is clearer. Yes, original phrasing seems confusing, but I can't judge since my Italian is only poor
