It reminds me of what happened with a person I knew quite well: He spent his summer holidays going to Guatemala from Spain with university students, and giving there classes to poor people. He also kept an account book of all the expenses and money transfers of the trip. At the end of the month, when the stay was finishing, he managed to tally all the numbers, and said something like "I have completed everything" (ya he terminado todo, or sth similar). Next day he went to the beach with some of the students and, while swimming, a wave did away with him. Everybody was shocked.

I saw the painting last year. It is of an old woman on the streets. A few days after the artist asked to take her photograph, she died in a vehicle accident...not sure how. In the painting, the artist (Héctor Orozco García) depicts her colorful actual face...next to a black and white skull. He donated the painting to the City of Longmont for the 2008 Day of the Dead Exhibit at the local museum. I like your answer, and I think I will choose it. Gracias,
