Social Sciences - Psychology / Response in a questionnaire
Latvian term or phrase: nomāc
Response is 'Daudzas lietas mani nomāc'

How best to translate this word? In the context of a person with a physical disability (amputee), does this imply 'things are getting me down' (i.e. depressed mood) , or 'I am unable to do a lot of things now' (physical inability)?

Thank you.

depress
Explanation:
I think that "sadden" refers more to occasional events, e.g., some news may sadden you. But, what you have here is a state oif mind, sort of permanent state, and then it's close to depression. Daudzas lietas mani nomāc = many things are getting me down/depress me.

sadden

Explanation:
Many things sadden me
or
Many things are getting me down

"nomāc" definitely refers to emotional state, not physical ability.
