Art/Literary - Poetry & Literature / pre-1928 Indonesian novel written in Malay lingua franca
Malay term or phrase: anak wali
Context: "Aku bermaksud mengangkatmu jadi anak wali saya, yang berhak menerima warisan f 200.000."
I think ihe term means 'legal heir', but I can't find it either in Kamus Lamanbahasa or by googling. Google Translate gives a translation 'child's guardian' but I think that's wrong, i.e., from 'wali anak', rather than 'anak wali'.
See al-Quran Surah Maryam translation, verse 5, such as here:
The prophet Zakariyya (upon him peace) reached old age, and childless, so he asked God for a 'wali' to carry on his duties.
Not strange for old Malay texts to use Quranic/hadith terms.

I think the target term here is 'stepson', because if the child agrees, he/she will have a right to inherit f 200.000.
Notes to answerer
Asker: Maybe not, because a 'stepson' is the biological child of one's spouse, rather than an 'anak angkat'.
