Norwegian to English translations [PRO] Bus/Financial - Accounting / annual report | | Norwegian term or phrase: opptjeningstid | Annual report for mining company. Notes to the accounts - pensions.
Forutsetningen om regnskapsmessig opptjeningstid for den ordinære alderspensjonsordningen er i årets pensjonsberegning endret fra 67 år til 60 år.
I know this is usually "contribution period" or "service period" (as per a previous Proz question - before someone refers me to that!) but how can that tally with it being reduced from 67 to 60? Are they just trying to say the qualifying age has been reduced? All thoughts welcome. |

| | qualifying period | Explanation: at least in the client-approved glossary for aetat. It should also fit with the context you outlined

Hi Karen - sorry, yes, my point was that the aetat-approved translation for opptjeningstid was qualifying period. I agree with you that this must just be an exceptionally clumsy source text and that what they really mean is that the period is adjusted to give a qualifying age of 60. |
