The secondary definition of helle is one I have never come across before. One lives and learns - but the problem at Hovedøya and other islands is that visitors come bearing single-use or portable barbies, place them on the grass or on the rock, and the heat makes permanent damage to the substrate. Slabs or slates of rock placed there for the purpose would probably be just as heat-stained, but in a rather more organised fashion. They could also be exchanged, or turned over for a mid-life refresher. |
