Government / Politics
Norwegian term or phrase: tiltredende medlem
Brief resume of a member of the Storting.
"tiltredende medlem Styret i Hordaland Arbeiderpartiet 2005-2009".
How can you be "tiltredende" for a period of four years? This oblivously must have a special meaning in this context. Could someone explain, please ;-)

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks for that, Dawn, even though it sounds a bit odd to be appointed to a position for four years, especially when you think about what they say about a day in politics.... ;-)

Substitute

Explanation:
Substitute or alternate member
?
I AM really guessing here, as I do not specialise in Norwegian and would expect the person to be a suppleant in Norwegian (or Danish).

But it would then mean someone who could step in or tiltrede when one of the elected members dropped out.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Substitute/alternate member is usually referred to a "varamedlem", Christine, so I don't think this is the case here. Have asked client for guidance here.
