Hans, I think the Mr. Løfblad in your reference at that time (actually 19 years ago) was the local union representative for Akademikernes Fellesforbund in the then still existing Oslo Energi. It is pretty clear to me that this is not the same AF as in Charles' text.

Knut Olav Grimdalen" It's a newletter published by ESS Support Services AS. "A" could stand for "Anlegg" - but don't discount the possibility of an English title, especially in the offshore industry.

I also see the term used a few times in relation to offshore employment, but I can not find any explanation. See examples:

Your suggestion is rather far fetched. I have never seen or heard it used this used this way in Norwegian. My first guess, if it could otherwise fit in, would be that this is a document for AF Gruppen (sic) - a leading contractor and industrial operator. http://www.afgruppen.com/
