Norwegian term or phrase: overteke til
From a "Melding om privat skifte" by a tingrett.

Full sentence:
Buet etter ovannemnde er overteke til privat skifte. Skifteattest i original er send: (followed by name and address). No broader context available.

There are 2 "ovannemnde", but the ovannemnde obviously refers to the deceased.

"Buet etter ovannemnde" seems odd, but "er overteke til privat skifte" confuses me most. My best bet would be
The estate of the above-mentioned is "taken over by" or "transferred to"?

Here, it's really the assumption of liability for the debt(s) of the estate that allows the person(s) making the submission to the tingrett to take over administration of the estate. Such person(s) thus avoid the court's further involvement and the associated expense.

So, your entire sentence would read: "The estate of the above-named persons has been taken over for the purpose of administration of the estate out of court." (I'm assuming that there really are two decedents named here as "ovannemnde".)

Explanation:
I've had second thoughts about using the long-winded formula of an assent vesting the estate ..... for. Appropriated is neater and requires no turning round of the sentence.

In England and Wales, estates of a deceased person are neither taken over, nor transferred, but appropriated, assented, granted or vested.

I'm unsure whether, in the last proz answer, retained possession of an undivided estate gets across the idea of 'overtatt' as an actual appropriation or vesting of the deceased spouse's interest.

An assent is a probate conveyance vesting property either *in* the PRs/personal representatives, such as testamentary executors or *in* the rightful beneficiaries.

In a separate document (same case), a "Fullmakt ved privat skifte av dødsbo" it says: "Jeg XXX har overtatt boet etter avdøde til privat skifte, og gir med dette YYY fullmakt til å ordne alt i forbindelse med bobehandlingen og booppgjøret". I tend to "assume": assumed for out-of-court administration.

Yes, for private admin. and not by the court.

Jeg XXX har overtatt boet etter avdøde: I suggest - 'I XXX have appropriated the estate of the deceased(s) and do hereby give or grant ...' rather than turning round to a 'an assent has been made vesting in me...' and changing the subject.
