Legal right, authority or permission probably all work. A right is something you have by definition, while authority and permission is something that's granted to you. In this case, the entity that orders the audition is probably the same that grants the authority to comply with the order - but that may not be a given feature of the order itself, if complying means compromising patent secrets.

Hi Brigid. I considered "legal authority", but wondered why they would use "lovlig adgang" in that case?? However, what you say definitely makes sense.

Asker: I'm wondering if it could mean "legal authority" rather than right, Carole. If they have "the legal authority to comply with the order" it sounds more logical to me than having "legal right" or even "legal permission" to comply with the order.
