...in that you don't, for some reason, think that "slangemontør" is a real occupation.
There are job descriptions out there, companies are looking for "slangemontører", it's used as a job title, and if you've ever looked at anything hydraulic, you should know that you can't change hoses, repair or mend them yourself - you need a "slangemontør". Which leads me to believe that you actually need training to become one.

"You cannot train to be a slangemontør" is obviously wrong. Maybe let this one go, and accept it's a job title?

In my Front Office Manager days at SAS Hotel Scandinavia in Oslo (Radisson Blu these days), we had a function called folio typist. The function was performed by a receptionist, albeit the lowliest newhire of them all. The folio typist would type out guest folios by reading info from registration cards. The folio typist would distribute three guest control slips to front office, PBX and room rack. We never advertised for folio typists, nor did we ever hire one in this position as such. We hired receptionists, who carried out this function. Their other duties included greeting arriving guests, assigning rooms, answering questions galore, and looking presentable. Many of the more presentable went on to careers as air hostesses. Nowhere on their CV would you find 'folio typist'. Like hose fitter, folio typist isn't a job, unless there's a qualifier that makes it special. Laser folio typist, offshore folio typist, underwater folio typist, sub-zero folio typist, all specialised enough to be jobs. There just isn't a hose fitter job out there that doesn't have a qualifier, most of them being hydraulic. You cannot train to be a slangemontør, so how can it be a job title? Just wondering....

Hydraulic hose fitter is probably a job title. As is Assembly Technician. My point is simply that slangemontør/hose fitter is not; at best, it's a function. Look, if you like, at the two referenced positions of slangemontør offered by Tess. One is definitely a workshop figure, while the other is basically a sales clerk with a keen interest in fittings. Add hydraulics to the equation, and it's a profession. Without, it, no cigar. Where does one apply to get educated as a hose fitter? Where do hose fitting college graduates apply for jobs as a hose fitter?

you are looking for a job title here? Pipe (or rather hose) fitter seems very specialised. It seems reasonable that a person performing this task would be a mechanic, technician, or even a plumber. My guess would be that 'the person who fits/connects/installs the hoses' would be better than inventing what is probably not a job title anyway.

Pipe fitter (or pipefitter - both seem to be used) seems reasonable if you read the job description for slangemontører and the Wiki description of a pipe fitter. Was initially going to suggest a hydraulic hose fitter, but competency in this area seems to be part of the job description for a pipe fitter.
