Norwegian to English translations [PRO]
Medical - Medical (general)
Norwegian term or phrase: sektorsykehus
The term appears in a list in my context, but there are plenty of examples on the net. What I'm not sure of is whether this term should be interpreted to mean "local" or "district" hospital... or something else?

county/parish hospital

Explanation:
If in the South US it might be parish, in the rest of the US it might be county or even regional. From what I see there are 4 "sektorsykehus" in Oslo but they are not local hospitals as they have the main responsibility for Oslo's patients divided between them and then it seems they have smaller hospitals under that again. But I am no expert in this. :-)

sectorhospital

Explanation:
I'm not sure if "sectorhospital" is possible to use in English, but it is better than local or parish-hospital, because the point of the word is that a "sektorsykehus" is specialised in a certain area. In Oslo there are four sectorhospitals within psychiatry and internal medicine, for example. Maybe there is a better word in English for a specialised hospital?
