I'm trying to establish if an official English translation of this exists.

Norwegian Ship Control Legislation
Explanation:
Reading the first ref., you would think that the Seamen's Act was the translation, but this is not correct. Read it and see if you interpret it differently. I found only one - unofficial - translation. Why on earth is such an apparently important document so difficult to track down? Maybe it's been superseded by new legislation? Sjøfartsdirektoratet's website was no help, either.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks for your help with this Brigid. I got nowhere fast when trying to find more information on this, and as you say, the Sjøfartsdirektoratet's website was no help whatsoever.
