The primary purpose of this plane is to train new pilots and give them confidence in flying only by instruments. Considerable practice is needed in flying by instruments before pilots are able to steer a straight course, climb and descending gradually without over-controlling. The pilot must first become accustomed to this type of flying before he is permitted to handle the controls of a transport plane with passengers while flying blind.
